The human body is complex, and maintaining our health is at once difficult and easy. It is difficult when we are attempting to identify problems that we encounter and try to correct them, it is easy when we treat our bodies right and allow the natural homeostasis to work. Many of us are health conscious, and look to blood pressure remedies we can employ without medical intervention.
When we visit the doctor for some problem, there are a number of things that are looked at without regard to our specific complaint. A screening assistant will very probably record our temperature, our height and weight, and our blood pressure. These three things can tell a physician a great deal about our overall health before he discusses anything with us about specific concerns.
The measure of the pressure within our circulatory system, when at a normal value, can tell help the doctor eliminate a great many conditions that abnormal values might indicate. The accepted normal values have been around 120 millimeters of mercury as the heart pumps, and about 80 when the heart relaxes. Typically physicians do not get concerned until those numbers are elevated to around 140 over 90, at which time the physician will probably elect to treat you to help reduce the values.
Between the normal values and the threshold for medical treatment is when an individual can act on their own to eliminate or slow an unhealthy condition. These need not be drastic actions, one simple method is to ensure we are heating healthy. As you might expect this would mean eating whole grains fruits and vegetables and staying away from fatty, oily foods and even keeping to a limited consumption of red meat. Keeping in mind the notion that we can eat just about everything because we should eat everything, but in limited quantities.
Thanks in part to processed foods, Americans have a strong prevalence for eating to much salt in our diet. The sodium has a known effect on increasing our blood pressure, but eliminating it is difficult. There are two tricks to weaning ourselves off the high salt diet. One is to use other spices instead of salt; the other is to simply abstain for a while. Our system will adjust to reduced salt and after a time, things that we would normally add salt too will even appear to be too salty for our taste.
There are few of us who think we need to gain weight to improve our health, and that is because many of us have a tendency to carry to much weight. Maintaining a health weight is a recognized means of ensuring health. And the exercise we use to keep our heart, lungs and blood system working well also contributes to normal pressures in our system.
Another popular social phenomenon with an impact on our circulatory system is the use of alcohol. Many physicians would counsel us to avoid it altogether, but as long as we keep to one drink per day for women and two for men, it should have limited effect on us. If however, we are trying to control or lower our numbers, then eliminating it altogether is good advice.
Avoiding the use of tobacco is a final action we can take to keep our blood vessels and arteries in a healthy state. Smoking has a tendency to damage the vessels of our circulatory system, as well as increase our risk for heart attacks and strokes. While it may not affect the pressure, it makes is more susceptible to elevated conditions. If we take care in the use of these blood pressure remedies, we can improve our health and even live longer
